With the Met Office forecast for Saturday night looking good, there’s a reason Bournemouth Fireworks always features the area’s biggest and best-loved displays – they are designed by the company that supplied Guy Fawkes and the original Gunpowder Plotters.

And this year’s event at the Littledown Centre on Saturday, November 3 is no exception.

The international award-winning team at Pains Fireworks has worked with Bournemouth Fireworks since the first event in 1996, but the origins of the company date back to 1590 and its founder John Pain is thought to have supplied the gunpowder that was intended to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605.

“Right from the start we wanted to make sure Bournemouth Fireworks would go with a bang that’s why we always work with the best in the business,” says event director Michael Callaghan.

Pains Fireworks design and perform more than 500 shows a year all over the world, but operations manager Peter Theakston always makes sure he’s on hand to personally oversee Bournemouth Fireworks. One of the industry’s leading pyro technicians, he has been known to fly halfway round the world in order to be at the Littledown Centre in time.

The three displays will light the sky with colour and include the stunning palm shells that rise from the Littledown’s sports fields with spiraling tails offset by the large calibre crackling shells, Roman candles and royal batteries to create one of the night’s stand out features.

“As ever we recommend people get their tickets in advance to enjoy fast track entry on the night – that way they won’t miss a minute of the fun!” adds Mick. “Bournemouth Fireworks is unique in that we host three first class displays and the last show, the famous White Knuckle,is the latest and loudest display on the south coast.”

As well as three premium fireworks displays, a fun-filled night of top quality entertainment for all the family is promised with a giant funfair, the free-entry indoor Family Zone and have-a-go sports sessions on the artificial pitches with coaches from local football, rugby, cricket and tennis clubs on hand, as well as yBall, the new game invented at the Littledown.

This year Bournemouth Fireworks is partnering with Bournemouth & East Dorset Relay for Life, a team fundraising challenge bringing families, friends and communities together to beat cancer. Teams fundraise for life-saving research over the year then in July join an overnight celebration of hope, remembrance and celebration while walking a 24-hour relay in recognition that for those touched by cancer it never sleeps.

Relay For Life will be fundraising at Bournemouth Fireworks at the Littledown. Gates open at 5pm with fireworks displays at 7pm, 8pm and the famous White Knuckle at 9pm.

Tickets are on sale now priced £7 (£4.50 child) and are available from the Littledown Centre or online at www.eventbrite.co.uk(subject to booking fee).
