Encore Care Homes undertook a series of acts of kindness during national Carers Week, at its homes in Bournemouth and Christchurch, to say thank you to its team for their hard work and dedication to the residents.

Encore, which manages Great Oaks in Bournemouth and Fairmile Grange in Christchurch, organised a number of spontaneous treats for staff working at the two homes. Great Oaks had a sweet trolley in the home throughout the week which everyone was free to enjoy. The home manager also handed out boxes of chocolates to the team, as well as ordering pizzas during the week for the night team to ensure everyone was rewarded. The week was rounded off with a barbecue which brought the whole team, residents and their families together to celebrate the carers at the home and the high standard of care they provide.

Fairmile Grange’s management team filled the home with posters featuring complementary and motivational quotes and the carers received small spontaneous gifts over the week as a way of saying thank you for their support. Fairmile Grange also held a barbecue at the end of the week to encourage residents to enjoy the home’s gardens as part of the ‘Breath of Fresh Care’ initiative, and celebrate the national day together.

Izzy Nicholls, operations and quality director of Encore Care Homes, said: “It is really important to Encore that we honour national awareness days which are specific to our sector, as they highlight the extra mile that our staff go to on a daily basis to ensure our residents are happy in their home.

“We have received such positive feedback from our team who really appreciated the treats they received during the week. We try to give back to our staff as often as possible as we believe if our employees are happy in the workplace then this will be reflected in the wellbeing and happiness of our residents.”

Great Oaks is the latest addition of an established family of care homes managed by Encore Care Homes, with two other care homes in Dorset and Hampshire. The 80-bed care home is fitted with state-of-the-art facilities, which are designed to enable staff to provide the highest standard of 24 hour, personalised care and ensure residents are comfortable and happy in their surroundings.
