A band from the west coast of Ireland are popping into Bridport ahead of an appearance at Bestival 2018 this August.

The Galway Street Band will be playing The Ropemakers on West Street just days after sharing the stage with Madness at Galway International Arts Festival.

The band a 15-piece collective of musicians formed from a mixed clan of buskers who have traces from all around the globe. They have been making waves throughout the Irish music scene, and are now taking their crowd-pleasing act from the streets to the stage.

The crew of performers joined up almost as a joke, jamming together on the street back in 2016. As crowds began to gather to hear their raw sound, the crew realized their potential as an actual collective.

They just released their debut album, Sovereign State of Madness in March of this year.

John Baker from The Ropemakers said: “We are really chuffed to be able to get the Galway Street Club here in Bridport, they are only playing a handful of UK dates – so to have them in The Ropemakers is a bit of a coup.”

They are an exciting and lively band that needs to be seen live, and everyone here is looking forward – so come along and join the party, it really will be a night to remember.”

The Galway Street Club play The Ropemakers on Thursday 2nd August at 8 pm and entrance is free.
