The West Dorset Diggers Archaeology Group is a new heritage organisation for Dorset. It’s aims are to research, excavate and promote the rich archaeology of the county. They also aim to work in the community, through adding to the membership, exhibitions, educational projects, social media, open days on their sites, talks and walks. Anyone interested in the archaeology and heritage of Dorset is welcome.

Technical & Media officer Chris Tripp says “This is a group of people that passionately believe that Dorset has a rich heritage of archaeological sites that locals and visitors will want to access and enjoy as much as the World Heritage Coast and our aim is to highlight that heritage. We will go out into the community and engage people with the deeper past that can be still be seen in our wonderful landscape, even after thousands of years after they were first built by our ancestors. Through excavation and survey we hope to gain new knowledge of how Dorset was sculpted by past human communities”.

The group can be contacted through their blog or Facebook page and through Chris on 0776 869 51 62.
