Officers in Bournemouth are releasing CCTV images of four people they want to speak to in connection with a racially-aggravated assault.

The incident happened at around 3.30am on Sunday 25 March 2018 on a footbridge in the Lower Gardens.

The victim – a woman aged in her 30s – was walking home with a group of friends when an interaction occurred with another group of three men and two women.

One of the group began making racist comments toward the victim before attempting to punch her, but missed. Another member of the group then punched the victim in the face.

The victim sustained an injury to her cheek that required hospital treatment.

Police Constable Cameron McGlone, of Bournemouth police, said: “We believe this was an unprovoked assault that has left the victim with a nasty injury to her face and has obviously left her feeling very shaken.

“We have made a number of investigations and only now am I in a position to issue CCTV images of four people I would like to speak to who may hold vital information that could assist with my investigation.

“If you know any of the individuals pictured, please contact Dorset Police urgently. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously.”
