More than 3,500 dedicated runners participated in this year’s annual Health-on-Line Bournemouth Bay Run, held along Bournemouth’s stunning seafront, with almost 300 people signing up for shorter races on the day.
Children, families, fun runners and elite athletes participated in the 1k, 5k, 10k and Half Marathon events. Many dressed as fairy tale characters – the theme of this year’s Health-on-Line Bournemouth Bay Run.
Long established in Bournemouth’s event calendar the 2019 race is set to raise in excess of £55,000 for the British Heart Foundation and other charities.
The Race Village in the Lower Gardens hosted BH Live warm up sessions for the runners, much needed post-race massage tents and great music from radio supporter Hot Radio. Live commentary from Hot’s Martyn ‘The Hat’ and Jay Ratchet at the finish line, added to the day’s great party atmosphere.
Local business support was once again fantastic with, amongst others, Jimmy’s Iced Coffee providing a fairy tale Cheer Zone near Boscombe Pier, encouraging weary runners on their way.
Race Director Tom Powell said: “Bournemouth has hosted another superb event. There was a fantastic turnout with everyone having a wonderful time, running hard and raising thousands of pounds for charity – it’s been another runaway success for us all!”
Fiona Carter, Brand and Marketing Manager at Health-on-Line said: “The Bournemouth Bay Run is a fantastic display of community spirit and we were delighted to sponsor such a rewarding event. The day was an enormous success with thousands gathered along the Bournemouth seafront. As one of the largest employers in Bournemouth, we are committed to supporting our local community and we look forward to continuing this throughout 2019.”
