41 year old arrested following assault and fight near Crown Hotel Weymouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a reported assault in Weymouth town centre.

Dorset Police received a report at 12.24am on Saturday 21 May 2022 of a fight involving a man and a group of people in the area of The Crown Hotel in St Thomas Street. Officers attended and the group dispersed.

It was further reported that the man allegedly assaulted a woman a short time before in St Mary Street. She did not sustain any injuries.

A 41-year-old man from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Lauren Edwards, of Weymouth police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the alleged assault involving the man and woman to please come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from any who may have been in the area at the time of the reported fight and saw what happened.”
