63 year old Bridport man arrested for suspected GBH

Officers investigating a reported assault in Bridport are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

At around 6.35pm on Friday 21 January 2022 officers were called to reports of an assault outside an address in Church Close. It is alleged a man assaulted another man outside an address following a dispute. Both men are known to each other.

The victim, a local man aged in his 40s, sustained a laceration to his forehead, cuts and bruises to his eye and face. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 63-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Dan White, of Bridport police, said: “We have carried out a number of enquiries into this incident, including house-to-house visits. I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area of Church Close at the relevant time, either walking or driving, and may have witnessed what happened to please get in touch with Dorset Police.”
