Police investigation takes new turn as man sought for assault in Weymouth

Officers continuing to investigate an incident where a man was found injured on the seafront in Weymouth are releasing a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to.

Dorset Police received a report at around 3.15am on Saturday 7 October 2023 from the ambulance service that a man aged in his 50s had been found with injuries on The Esplanade, near to Marks and Spencer.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious head injury.

Following enquiries, it is now believed that the man sustained a head injury following an assault and officers are now releasing a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak you.

Police Constable Josh Manning, of Weymouth police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident which is now being treated as an assault and have obtained a CCTV image of a man we would like to identify and speak to.

“I would urge anyone with information relating to this man’s identity to please contact us.

“I would also like to speak to any witnesses to the incident who have not already spoken to police.”
