A man has been handed a prison sentence for multiple offences of robbery and theft in Bournemouth and Christchurch.

Ashley Brown, 28 and of Treebys Close in Christchurch, was jailed for nine years on Friday 9 August 2024 at Bournemouth Crown Court. He previously pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery and three counts of theft.

Brown also pleaded guilty to a burglary offence, possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place, possession of a controlled drug of class A and failing to surrender to court bail at the appointed time.

His offending took place over a six-month period between December 2023 and June 2024.

On Tuesday 19 December and Thursday 21 December 2023, Brown stole a parcel from outside an address in Christchurch Road, as well as air fresheners from a property in Hawkwood Road in Bournemouth.

A few days later on Saturday 23 December 2023, the defendant entered the porch area of an address in Woodstock Road in Christchurch and stole a number of parcels. He was subsequently identified after being captured on doorbell camera footage.

On Tuesday 28 May 2024, Brown stole a bike from a 13-year-old boy outside Lidl in Bailey Drive in Christchurch.

Two further incidents occurred on Friday 14 June 2024 in Bournemouth. At around 11.15am in the morning, Brown entered Uppercut Barbers in Christchurch Road and demanded money. During the incident, it is reported that a member of staff was bitten on the arm and they attended hospital for treatment.

Later in the same day at around 9.15pm, the defendant demanded money from the till in Iford Stores in Christchurch Road while in possession of a knife.

Brown was identified as being responsible for the robberies and was arrested on Saturday 15 June 2024.

Detective Sergeant Leo Christian, of BCP CID, said: “Brown’s offending took place over a series of months and impacted a number of different victims.

“I am pleased that we were able to identify Brown as the person responsible and build a case that led to him being jailed for a significant period of time.”
