Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following a road rage incident that resulted in a serious assault in Weymouth.
Dorset Police received a report at around 9.50am on Saturday 17 August 2024 that a man had sustained injuries following an incident in Chamberlaine Road in Wyke Regis.
It was reported that the victim, a man aged in his 60s, was driving a black Audi A3 and was forced to stop suddenly to avoid a collision with an e-scooter.
The victim’s wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle, pulled down her window to challenge the male e-scooter rider over his riding.
He started becoming abusive and the occupants got out of the vehicle to speak to him.
The e-scooter rider then punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground. He sustained a head injury that required hospital treatment.
The e-scooter rider, who made off from the scene, was wearing sunglasses, a grey T-shirt, grey shorts and white trainers as well as a backpack.
Detective Sergeant Kate Rhodes, of Dorset County CID, said: “This was a violent assault that left the victim with a serious head injury and we are carrying out detailed enquiries to identify the suspect involved in this incident.
“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone who has captured relevant dashcam or home CCTV footage, to please come forward.”
