A further man has been charged in connection with reported disorder at a protest in Weymouth.

Officers have been continuing to review available footage and material posted online relating to the reported disorder on The Esplanade on Sunday 4 August 2024.

As a result of these investigations, a 27-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with an allegation that he threw a bottle at police lines during the protests. He has now been charged with the offence and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 21 August 2024.

Assistant Chief Constable Mark Callaghan, of Dorset Police, said: “We recognise the impact reported disorder of this nature has on our local communities and we have continued to review all available evidence relating to events in Weymouth on Sunday 4 August, and take robust action where appropriate.”
