The Swanage School would like to introduce you to their finished logo, based on a winning design by Swanage Middle School pupil Harriet MacGregor.

Harriet’s design was inspired by the symbol found along the seafront in Swanage. The triskele is an ancient symbol which represents the air, land and sea, and was used by George Burt in a number of local buildings and on the railings of the Pier. The three fish were added to the symbol later to celebrate the bay and the fish that swim in it – many people will be familiar with the beautiful pebble mosaic created by artist Maggie Howarth in the Square on the seafront, and the carvings by sculptor Val Quinn on the benches nearby.

The motto is an addition to the design: ‘Omnia vinces perseverando’ means ‘By perseverance you shall overcome all things’. This was chosen as it reflects the experience of bringing a new school into being, but is also intended to inspire others to strive for success through trying and trying again.
