Dorset Wildlife Trust just reported: “Lots of reports coming in of seabirds such as auks getting washed up along the Dorset Coastline near Chesil, Lyme Regis, Budleigh and further, covered in something white and sticky; possibly a silicant but this is not confirmed. We are working with the RSPCA to rescue as many as we can and are trying to find out what the substance on the birds is. If you find a bird, please try not to handle them as we are not sure how harmful it could be, but contact us or the RSPCA as soon as possible.
