ROLL UP ..ROLL UP.. WEYMOUTH VICTORIAN SHOWNIGHT IS BACK

The Weymouth Victorian Shownight will be held on Friday 6thDecember in the heart of Weymouth starting at 3pm and finishing at 9pm.

The event will be organised by Roger Dalton Associates in conjunction and support of the Weymouth BID team. Roger Dalton Associates were the successful business who won the Weymouth BID Events Tender for the next 3 years and Shownight will be their first event . The company will be investing more that £10,000 in festive attractions, events and music backed by a full marketing campaign of leaflets, posters, banners, social media and press support. There will also be FREE parking in Weymouth from 3pm in the Council run town centre car parks and many shops will be opening until late. Weymouth & Portland Borough Council and the Weymouth & Portland Chamber of Commerce are also working to support this event .

Nigel Reed, Weymouth BID Manager said “The board of Directors are delighted to be working with Roger Dalton Associates as our  Events company for the next 3 years.  Roger Dalton and his team have demonstrated their experience and skill in delivering high quality events in Weymouth over a number of years including the Dorset Seafood Festival and events held at Brewers Quay.  I am sure that the Victorian Shownight will be one to be remembered and we encourage all businesses to get involved “

Roger Dalton, Event Organiser saidWe are very proud to have been awarded the Events Tender for the Weymouth BID.  We have lots of exciting events planned for Shownight including an Ice Rink, a herd of Reindeers, Father Christmas Grotto, outdoor stalls and shops participating in the Victorian theme – our aim is to create an atmosphere “Just how Christmas used to be”.  Mr Dalton went on to say “ We are encouraging businesses to join in the fun by setting up stalls outside their premises or to have staff dressed in Victorian costume.  Shops can also run events inside their own businesses with special offers for customers.”

Draft Programme

3.00pm

• Christmas market and synthetic ice rink opens – families will be able to apply for pre-booked tickets for the rink £2.00 for adults and £1.00 for children
• Carol singing, festive music and dance programme

5.00pm

• Santa arrives on his sleigh pulled by reindeer to his grotto in New Bond Street – public can pet reindeer – photo opportunities with Santa / sleigh / reindeer

 6.00pm

• Mayor arrives with a parade of vintage cars and Pantomime characters on the land train and leads the countdown to switch on of lights in town centre

6.30pm

• Lighting Up Parade moves off around the harbour to join the children‚ lantern parade in Hope Square

6.30pm – 8pm  New Bond Street Stage

• The sixty-strong ‚Rock Choir‚ leads the programme in New Bond Street with more music and entertainment on a second stage in St Mary Street
• Ice skating to music / snow machine etc.
• Santa receives children in grotto – queues pet reindeer
• Strolling actors in full costume greet the crowds
• Programme of in-store demonstrations and tastings, promoted through the leaflet

8pm

• Prize giving – best dressed couple / best dressed scrooge / best dressed window / stall


• Final music / carol singing programme
