As plans for the 2014 Bournemouth Air Festival take shape, a leading Bournemouth hotel has announced a very special ‘one-off’ event.

Hotel Miramar will be hosting the unique fundraising party in aid of the Royal Marines and Royal Navy Charity on Friday 29th August in the hotel grounds on the East Cliff.

The ‘Navy Blue Party’ will feature music from the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines in the presence of the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir George Zambellas KCB DSC ADC.

The professional head of the Royal Navy, Sir George, will attend the ‘Navy Blue Party’ following his inspection of the flotilla of ships in the bay, and meeting with Royal Navy and Royal Marines staff as well as the Reserves and cadets participating in the show.

Hotel Director and Air Festival Patron Ambassador David Bailey commented, “We understand this is the only time the First Sea Lord has attended the Bournemouth Air Festival, and we are honoured he is joining us to host this event in aid of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. Last year we held the very successful ‘Not Quite the Red Ball’ in aid of the Jon Egging Trust. This year ‘The Navy Blue Party’ will be different again, and quite unlike any other air festival event before.”

Entertainment will include the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, live jazz and other special surprises. There will also be a silent auction, and the opportunity to watch the Night Air display and fireworks from the excellent vantage point of the Hotel Miramar lawns.

Admission is strictly by ticket only which must be purchased in advance. Tickets are £40.00 per person to include a drink on arrival, with delicious hog roast served with jacket potatoes and salads. For an additional donation of £100, a table of ten can be personally hosted by a special military guest.

David added, “Each year the air festival gets bigger and better. There is now as much going on at sea as there is in the skies, and we are delighted to be able to support the Navy and the Marines. This event has put Bournemouth on the international map, and we at Hotel Miramar are proud to be sponsors and supporters. The air festival and the other town events are good for tourism and good for business. There’s a real buzz!”
