ACT TOGETHER FOR A FRACK FREE PLANET

This is a call out to the people in Dorset to get involved with the
Frack Free Movement.

We all need to be activists now, in whatever way we can. The time has come where if we don’t take a stand to protect our beautiful land and sacred clean water, we won’t have either. Each one of us has skills and gifts we can bring to the frack free campaign, one of the things we can do as healers is support those who are putting themselves out there to protect our land. We are also looking to expand the network of people in the South West who can offer support in other areas such as media, awareness raising and fund raising.

The mobile herbal free clinic will go out to fracking protection sites in the SW and will treat/support/reconnect activists for free on site, providing health care and support to the courageous caretakers of our land. We need to gather a willing group of herbalists/healers/acupuncturists, etc. in the SW (Bristol, Somerset,
Dorset, Devon, Cornwall) who are willing to be part of a network team that goes out to Protection camps and holds the space. We will eventually have our own activist support physic garden that grows the medicines for the clinics.

A caravan has been donated for the clinic and a growing pot of money
is being raised to fund the dispensary.
We are running a 3 day herbal and conventional first aid training by Herbalist Dedj Leibbrandt (www.dedj.co.uk) 17th-19th October ’14. This is open to anyone who is interested in being part of the team and is available to go to sites, and will be run near Totnes on a donation basis.
Please email us at [email protected] or visit our website-

if you are interested in the course, being on the team or helping out with the project.

Some Background Info about Fracking

You have probably heard by now the Government is pushing for controversial extreme energy extraction known as Fracking or Hydraulic fracturing, across our sacred lands.

In fact around 60% of the Land in the UK has been earmarked for fracking to date and still the government pushes for easier planning for the energy companies, and more cash incentives for councils to grant permission.

We have seen that fracking causes huge devastation to the land, the air and the water, not to mention the damage to human and animal health and life. This includes the irreversible pollution of our underground aquifers, rivers and reservoirs, the indiscriminate dumping of fracking wastes which includes vast amounts of toxic chemicals mixed with thousands of gallons of what was good drinking water, and earthquakes that have been caused by the deep underground drilling.

The emissions from the holding tanks alone push us beyond the limit of the governments duty to reduce UK emissions.

To top this off each well is only workable for 1-3 years so where there is one well approved, in the future there will be many.

The benefits of UK shale gas have been seriously over-blown, and most experts agree that it won’t cut fuel bills. If we want to boost energy security, tackle
rising fuel prices and cut carbon we should be investing in efficiency
and renewable power.

Where fracking has been taking place in USA and Australia for some time now, the devastating impacts can clearly be seen and this is a strong warning for us here in the UK and Europe to put a stop to this irreversible process.

FRACK FREE CAMPAIGNS

We still have time to stop this and people power has proved effective in Australia (Bentley Blockade) and in New york state a community charter has helped ban fracking in many New York towns. New Mexico county becomes first in US to ban fracking.

There are many fracking sites springing up across UK as we speak, and alongside them are Community Protection camps made up of environmental activists and local residents. These camps have been very successful in getting the issue into the media, raising public awareness, empowering local communities to take action, making sure there is a debate about fracking, ensuring the companies are answerable to us the public should they break laws (which they frequently do), and costing the fracking companies millions by delaying the trucks and therefore the drills.

Update: All applications made so far deny that fracking will be used in Dorset but that has become the standard everywhere in the UK since Balcombe. Having spoken with personnel on North Sea Oil Rigs in personal conversations recently I was assured that fracking is now the “norm” & other phrases are being used to cover the activity. “Well stimulation” “mini-frac” and liquid infusion being the ones I have seen in documentation! Do we trust all this clever word manipulation? Do we hell.
