Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) is pleased to announce the Wild About Wimborne event is taking place at Minster Green, Wimborne on Saturday 20th September from 10.30am – 3.30pm.

There will be a whole host of fun activities going on throughout the day, including face-painting, storytelling, children’s crafts, rush weaving and many more.  There will also be a unique opportunity to experience some of the finest local wildlife Dorset has to offer, including the chance to get up close with an owl and some bats, as well as some of the creatures that inhabit the nearby River Allen.

DWT Conservation Officer and event organiser, Amanda Broom said, “Wild About Wimborne is a celebration of just how great a place Wimborne is for all types of wildlife.  The town is home to some of Britain’s best wildlife, including Kingfishers and Otters, and this event is the perfect way to experience that first-hand.  So whether you want to build your own bug home, learn some new ‘wild skills’ or just relax and browse our beautiful gift stalls and grab a bite to eat,  Wild About Wimborne has something for all the family to enjoy!”

This year we are also sharing news and information about The Great Heath Living Landscape project, as well as Dorset Wildlife Trust’s River Allen Project, which is a programme of practical conservation work, designed to improve the river environment for all the wonderful wildlife that inhabits it.
