DJ PROPERTY has announced that the second phase of units at Link Park, Weymouth are now complete. The first businesses are now taking occupation and developers DJ Property are still on track to complete over 50,000 sq ft of new employment buildings at Link Park by the end of 2015.
Mud Sweat & Gears, South Dorset’s leading cycle business will be one of the first businesses to occupy one of the seven new buildings. Mud Sweat & Gears have been trading at Granby Court and are relocating the Weymouth branch to Link Park in October. Owner Andy Leach said “ As the largest independent cycle business in Weymouth we are excited about moving to larger, brand new premises. We already have showrooms in Bridport and Dorchester but the Weymouth unit will be our showcase in terms of cycle displays, equipment, repairs and clothing. We started out in 1996 at the Littlemoor Garden Centre before relocating to Granby Court in 2003, our growth has been steady during this time but we have now outgrown out space and as our lease ended in our current building it was the ideal opportunity to grow and relocate to Link Park.” Mr Leach went on to say “By working with the developers in the early stages of construction we were almost able to design our own business unit which will have offices, workshop, fitting room, showroom dedicated to ladies cycling. We have a very visible corner plot adjacent to the Chickerell Link Road and very close to the new cycle path and cycle parking shelters.”
Mud Sweat & Gears were recently involved in the Challenge Weymouth event where they ran a Cycle shop at the Expo for 3 days providing bike repairs, help and assistance to the participants plus organising the cycle racking before the event ensuring that all 1,500 bikes had the correct tyre pressure. The company already work closely with the supply of bikes to local schools including Wey Valley and Budmouth who use them for outdoor activities and tuition.
In October Mud Sweat & Gears will be organising the “Dorset Dirty Dabbler” cycle race for 150 cyclists over a course of 30 miles, starting and finishing at Kingston Maurward College. The Mud Sweat & Gears Cycle Club has a membership of 300 and is growing rapidly. The Club hold weekly rides, annual trips and host events.https://www.mudsweatngears.co.uk/
The Government led “Cycle to Work “scheme https://www.cyclescheme.co.uk/ is very popular with local employers as it offers sustainable transport for employees whilst giving them a tax benefit on the purchase of their chosen bike. Each company signs up to the scheme and then employees can access all the benefits and equipment whilst receiving approximately a 30% tax discount on equipment bought through the scheme and have the benefit of paying for the bike over a chosen period of time. This scheme is favoured by employers as it also reduces the need to provide employee parking and provides a sustainable method of travel.
Mickey Jones, Chief Executive of DJ Property, the company developing Weymouth’s newest business park said “Phase 1 at Link Park let very quickly to national brands such as Euro Car Parts, Halfords Autocentre, Topps Tiles, Toolstation and Screwfix . DJ Property as a trusted, professional developer of commercial property continues to build long-term relationships with many local, national and international businesses. Phase 2 of the development at Link Park is now complete providing seven high quality business units. The new units measure between 1,650 sq ft and 2,500 sq ft and Mud Sweat & Gears will be among the first businesses to occupy the units over the next few weeks. These units were designed to attract local small to medium sized businesses that are looking to expand their business into high quality new commercial space.”
Link Park’s direct frontage onto the Chickerell Link Road and proximity to Weymouth’s major roads makes it the ideal location for many businesses. Buildings at Link Park are amongst the highest quality available in South Dorset. All units benefit from reduced cost solar PV generated electricity and enhanced insulation, resulting in reduced utility bills for the occupier.
