Free parking is returning once again to selected Bournemouth Council car parks in the lead up to Christmas.

Bournemouth Council is offering free parking in certain car parks every Sunday all day from Sunday 30 November, until Sunday 21 December, and on Thursday nights from the earlier time of 4pm between November 27 to December 18.

Councillor Michael Filer, Cabinet Member for Transport, Cleansing and Waste, said:

“We thought this was a nice festive gesture to ease some of the pressure that you can feel in the mad rush just before Christmas. We hope it encourages people to get out and about without the worry of knowing where to park or the fear of possibly getting a parking ticket. There’s lots going on and we want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy it. The atmosphere around Christmas is just brilliant and we are sure shoppers and businesses will welcome the benefits.”

Throughout the Christmas period there is plenty for visitors to the town to enjoy including the Gardens of Light festival in the Bournemouth gardens, the outdoor ice rink and the German market in the town square.
