After last year’s success, Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) has added additional dates to the ocean cruises event, to allow even more people the opportunity to see wildlife up-close from the ‘Purbeck Princess.’

The three hour cruises* will take place on Friday 19thJune and Saturday 27thJune for just £12 per person, and £6 for children under 16.

This is an opportunity to learn about Dorset’s fantastic marine and coastal wildlife and guarantees cruise passengers a unique insight into this magnificent environment (without getting wet!).  Experts from DWT will be on-board to point out interesting wildlife and talk about Studland seahorses, Durlston’s dolphins and Brownsea’s sea birds.

DWT Marine Centre trainee, Hazel Munt attended the last ocean cruise.  She said, “With great excitement we left Poole Harbour, and it wasn’t long before we started seeing Mediterranean gulls and cormorants.  Plenty more birds were seen on the lagoon past Brownsea, and we saw oyster catchers and several gull species along the beaches.  The guests loved seeing puffins and barrel jellyfish and to top off the evening, it ended with a spectacular sunset over Poole and Old Harry rocks.  Everyone learnt something, and it was a great chance to see wildlife up-close.”

The ‘Purbeck Princess’, has a large undercover area, heating, toilets, and a large outdoor viewing area, to give passengers the best view of Dorset coastal landscapes.

On previous Ocean Cruises, wildlife watchers onboard have been treated to sightings of bottle-nose dolphins, sunfish, minke whale and nesting seabirds on cliff tops.

For the cruise on Saturday 27thJune arrival at Poole Quay no later than 2.30pm.  Boat departs at 3pm.  To book securely online visit www.dorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk/ocean-cruises or phone 01305 264620 for more information.
