This summer, Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) has lots of fun wildlife events to help children get close-up with some of the most interesting wildlife found in Dorset this time of year.

At DWT’s Fine Foundation Marine Centre in Kimmeridge, take a trip out with our clear-bottomed kayaks and goggle-viewers for a peak under the waves. We have 3 2 hour sessions running every Tuesday and Thursday throughout August starting at 10.30am, 12.00pm and 1.30pm. £25 per person. Minimum age 12 years.  Each 2 hour safari includes a wildlife talk and kayak session accompanied by a qualified kayak leader in Kimmeridge Bay. Phone 01929 481044.

DWT Communications Assistant, Zac Furbank said, “Dorset Wildlife Trust’s new My Wild Life campaign is all about getting adults and children spending more time outside, so we have lots of events lined up this summer to help give anyone and everyone some new wild experiences.”

Over at the Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre, explore the underwater world of the Fleet Lagoon with our Seashore Detectives event on Friday 14th August from 12.00-1.30pm.  Spy anemones, sea squirts and scurrying crabs with underwater seascapes.  Wellies advised!  Adults £2, Children £2.  Phone 01305 206191 for more information.

Also in Weymouth, Lorton Meadows will be holding a variety of ‘wild weekends’ throughout the summer, including the ‘Discover Reptiles Wild Weekend’ from Saturday 15th– Sunday 16th August.  Children’s reptile trails will be running both days from 1-2pm, £1 per child.  Phone 01305 816546 for more information.

In west Dorset at the Kingcombe Centre, children are invited to a variety of events at the Kingcombe Kids Club, running throughout the summer. Our ‘Get Creative’ club on Thursday 20th August at 10.30am – 12.30pm will help kids get creative using sticks, leaves, clay and imaginations!  Once their creations are made, they can decorate trees with faces!  Price £5 per child.  The Kingcombe Café will also be open for refreshments and lunch.  Phone Christine Endecott on 01300 320684 for more information.

All of Dorset Wildlife Trust’s events can be found at www.dorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk/events and event guides can be found in all our centres* across Dorset.
