Offers of housing help for refugees are being registered by West Dorset District Council.

The district council is thanking residents for offers of help, while also making it clear that it may not be required. At this point the Government has said it is not anticipating that it will need to accommodate refugees in people’s homes.

Councillor Tim Yarker, district council housing executive portfolio holder, said: “Anyone who would like to register their wish to offer accommodation to refugees can give their details at dorsetforyou.com/refugees-response

“We may not end up needing these kind offers of support. However, we are keen not to lose out on offers of help. Anyone who wants to help by making a financial donation should go to www.redcross.org.uk/refugeecrisis
