On Tuesday (12th January 2016) there was a vote in Parliament relating to Amendment 52 of the Housing Bill that sought to establish “Implied term of fitness for human habitation in residential lettings”. Mr Drax voted against this. Fair enough one might say. We know he has no time for poor people and believes in the spurious explanation that poverty is largely self inflicted. However this social barbarism is one thing. The fact that he is also a landlord and that to have voted for this amendment may have cost him and his landlord mates a lot of cash is quite another. It gives the very strong impression that he is seeking to protect himself and other 2nd; 3rd 4th… homeowners over the hundreds of thousands of tenants who have to live in them.
How many people knew he was a landlord? How many knew that his “Income derived from property was over £10,000 in a calendar year”? If you investigate the declaration of interests you will find out but how many do? Check this out it makes fascinating reading:

Even those who voted for Mr Drax must surely be asking questions now. Unless they are as ignorant and compassion less as he and many other Tories are then surely they can see. Many do. We may not get enough votes to get rid but the anger is palpable as cuts and debts rise.
