Alleged Acid Attack in Weymouth – WITNESS APPEAL

Detectives investigating an alleged assault in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward – with one man being arrested.

At 10.43pm on Sunday 28 February 2016 officers were called to the incident in the Louviers Road area.

It was reported that two men attended an address. The male victim answered the door and had liquid, believed to be acid, thrown in his face. The two men then left.

The male victim and a woman – both from Weymouth and in their twenties – sustained injuries after being in contact with an acid-type substance. They were taken to hospital for treatment. Their condition is not life-threatening. 

One of the men, who attended the address, is described as white in his late twenties or early thirties, about six feet tall and of medium build. He has grade one short hair and stubble on his face. He was wearing dark clothing.

The second man was reported as white, in his mid-twenties to mid-thirties and of large build. He has a moustache or goatee and a London accent. He was also dressed in dark clothing.

Detective Sergeant Simon Austin, of Weymouth CID, said: “The male victim has been left with potentially life-changing injuries.

“We believe that the people involved are known to each other.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the two men, or has any information about the incident to contact police as soon as possible.

“Also, I would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious vehicles in the area at the time.”

A 34-year-old man from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intend and is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.
