This was our beautiful sixteen month old Labrador Tess just two weeks ago, after she won four rosettes at the local fun dog show.. Yet just yesterday Tess was fighting for her life with heart failure for the second time in six months.
Unfortunately, in April this year we were given the devastating news that Tess has a heart condition called atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia, which means abnormal electrical connections in the heart cause it to beat too fast. For now, Tess is being treated with a new medication but we don’t know how long it will work for, she is unlikely to recover for a third time and our only other option is heart surgery which has a high success rate allowing Tess to lead a normal life. This treatment is very specialised and there are only two places in the UK that can perform the procedure, costing £7,500. Just to reassure readers, Tess is insured, but her condition has nearly used up our insurance pay out which was a maximum of £3000 per condition.
If we do run out of time for Tess, all proceeds will go to a dog charity, that will be decided nearer the time.
Any donation, however small will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
