A CONTINUOUS PUBLIC ART PRESENCE IN LYME REGIS?

Back in the eighties a school project resulted in a mosaic bench being installed in Langmoor Gardens. Around 2002, Banksy stopped by and left a quirky, now-faded image of an origami stork with a goldfish in its beak – you might still find it at Mill Green. Until 2015, that was the whole story as regards ‘public art’ in Lyme Regis. The experiment of an ArtsFest Sculpture Trail has been my primary mission for the past two years and all Lyme Regis fans have the opportunity in the next seven days – whether as residents or as visitors – whether old or young – to vote for funding to start a new tradition: one of a constantly changing public art presence.
