DJ Property is pleased to announce that ALDI has been granted planning permission for a new supermarket in Chickerell, creating up to 50 new jobs. The store will have a store area of approximately 1,254 sq m (net) and construction will take place during 2017 with a view to opening later in the year.
ALDI stores are currently only available in Weymouth, Bournemouth and Poole and the proposed Link Park store will be their 5thstore to open in Dorset and the first ever food store for Chickerell. This site will also service the busy Granby Industrial Estate and the western side of Weymouth.
Mickey Jones, Chief Executive of DJ Property said “It was great to see such support for ALDI’s application to open a new store at Link Park, from so many local residents and business owners, but also from the Councillors at West Dorset District Council. The application was not only approved by a very large majority, but many Councillors spoke passionately about what the store will bring to the residents of Chickerell and West Weymouth. Personally, I am delighted and can see the value that an ALDI store will bring to daily lives of the thousands of people working on the Granby Industrial Estate and Link Park. The addition of ALDI, will keep Link Park as the number location for business in South Dorset.”
An ALDI spokespersonsaid: “We are delighted with the decision to approve ALDI’s application, and look forward to opening the store that so many local people have told us they can’t wait to see. Thank you to everyone who has supported the ALDI application. We hope having an ALDI in Chickerell will make life easier for the local community, who will soon find it even easier to shop and save with ALDI.”
