The comments were made by Conservative MP, Simon Hoare, and were directed towards Jeremy Corbyn who was highlighting concerns from an anti-poverty charity that children would go hungry through the summer holidays.
New data published by The Trussell Trust revealed this week that last summer 47% of children who received support from foodbanks in its network were 5-11 years old.
At least 60 foodbanks in The Trussell Trust’s network will be providing additional services to families struggling during the holiday.
