It now has a new strong board of directors and management team and I believe that with us all working together we all can achieve something really positive for the area.”

Chris Truscott of McDonalds said “Following a successful career working for some of the world’s best known brands in senior commercial and director roles, I decided to return and settle on the South Coast. I now own and operate McDonald’s restaurants within Dorset and am located in Weymouth.

I passionately believe that Weymouth has a unique opportunity to capitalise on the natural assets that the area has to offer and that is our role as local businesses to play our part in extolling the virtues of the town. Through working in partnership with all local stakeholders, all businesses in the area can benefit by ensuring that Weymouth continues to be a vibrant and attractive destination for both locals and visitors to enjoy whilst supporting our local economy.”

James Winchester of Coversure Insurance said “I have been in the Insurance Industry for over 10 years and have lived in Dorset my entire life. Having just starting working for Coversure in Weymouth in October 2017, I am currently in the process of moving to Weymouth with the family and working as part of the BID was an obvious move.

My speciality is Business Insurance and I understand that Businesses that work together, with themselves and with the community have better and less claims, so the BID makes perfect sense in that aspect.

I look forward to working with the BID and am proud to have been selected as a Board Member. I’m looking forward to BID2 and the greater future of Weymouth for all”.
Julia Cohen of Weymouth College has 35 years commercial business management & retail experience with 25 of those uniquely linked to education. She has lived in Weymouth for almost 20 years and has worked at Weymouth College for 12.

As Head of External Partnerships and The Dorset Training Academy at Weymouth College, Julia is the College link for business and commercial activity. Weymouth College are a Weymouth Bid Levy Payer.

The College is passionate about supporting local economic growth by working closely with business owners to develop the skills of their employees with business training and Apprenticeships, will also prepare our students to become a strong and talented workforce of the future.

Julia Cohen said “Moving to Weymouth was the best move we ever made, what a beautiful part of the country! When I was asked to join the BID board, I didn’t hesitate. As an educationalist, I feel that The College is key to providing the training for young and adult learners in Weymouth. I’m happy to work with a team that believe in growing our vibrant and dynamic town and thus creating a range of employment opportunities for our students”.

The Weymouth BID Board continue to look for new directors and steering group members to come forward from the business community to ensure that a good cross section of business sectors are represented on the board, in particular they are looking for representation from independent retail businesses and the service sector.
