Make dragon’s snot and ogre earwax in celebration of Book Week.
Book fans visiting Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum in Dorchester between May 25 and June 2, will also be able to get in for free when they dress up as their favourite book character. The museum on High West Street, will also be running storytelling sessions around the courthouse museum and there will be slime-making (otherwise known as dragon’s snot and ogre earwax,) in the cells.
The events are part of the museum’s work to inspire children with stories of social justice – and have a lot of fun at the same time!
Museum Director Anna Bright said: “What better way to celebrate the magical and important message of reading than by making snot and earwax, while hearing stories of rebel boys and girls who changed the world? We want to see everyone’s creative and amazing Book Week characters, from superheroes to wizards, astronauts and justice warriors. It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
Up to two children in fancy dress get in for free when accompanied by a paying adult. The storytelling sessions, which will include stories from the popular series Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls and Stories for Boys Who Dare to Be Different, will be free and will be at 3pm on May 27 to May 31. The slime-making workshops will run every day throughout the week from 11am until 3pm and will cost £2.50 per child to cover the costs of materials.
