Weymouth Town Council is pleased to announce the introduction of an electric vehicle.

The new, environmentally friendly vehicle is in use by the Town Council’s cleaners who are now able to maintain the town’s public facilities in a more energy efficient way.

In response to the climate threat, Weymouth Town Council last year declared a climate emergency and have committed to making the Council’s activities net zero carbon by 2030.

Cllr David Harris, Chair of the Green & Clean Working Group said: “The new electric vehicle is a very welcome addition to our fleet of vehicles and supports our response to the climate emergency. This is a positive step in the right direction as we work towards our goal of carbon neutrality.”

Cllr David Northam, Chair of the Services Committee, said: “It’s fantastic news that we have a brand-new electric vehicle that I’m sure will serve the Council for many years to come. This investment sets a good example to the rest of the town and shows our commitment to working in environmentally friendly ways.”
