To be fair it it is not only Hapless Hancock who has struggled with this one. No one outside of the government seems to have much of any good to say about Tony Abbott. Even in his native Australia he is perceived by many as the ‘worst prime minister they have ever had’. Why this reputation should appeal to Boris Johnson’s Conservative government is possibly obvious given that it is already fully of characters spread across Stephen King and Dennis Wheatley novels.
The problem with Hancock is that he looks like someone who has just snorted ketamine on a good day let alone when he has to answer questions in which the government would prefer not to be asked or questions that set off the psych far right who understand even less about it than even Hancock.
Thankfully Keir Starmer has actually come out against Abbott so there are small mercies to be had.
