The problem for those who do not understand Marx is that they have to be at a certain standard in Mathematics and Economics not to mention Philosophy, Political theory and Sociology. That is never going to happen if one reads the likes of The Sun and the Daily Mail.
However, by not engaging in deep thought they are cheating themselves of reality. Many see Marx as advocating ‘Communism’ without having any understanding of two things. 1. To understand how Communism works one must understand how it is constructed and how it becomes what he envisaged. 2. That Marx’s coverage of Communism was microscopic in comparison to his devastating analysis of Capitalism.
There is no doubting that in 2020 he is the most important thinker in history and nearly 140 years after his death is light years ahead of many. Why? Because he dedicated over four decades to his analysis not the four minutes that far too many allocate.

Once a person has their head around ‘historical materialism’ and ‘dialectics’ then they can truly say they have passed the start line.
And then don’t get me started on those who use the term ‘Cultural Marxism’ until you ask them what it means and they block or abuse you.
