Officers investigating an assault and public order incident at a shop in Christchurch are issuing an image of the suspect.

At around 3pm on Friday 4 September 2020 a male customer in Pets Corner on Somerford Road was asked by a member to staff to put on a face covering.

It is reported that he became verbally abusive and refused to wear a mask and leave the shop when asked. Other staff members became involved and the man eventually left the shop and walked to his car, with one person remaining in the doorway to ensure he left.

The man then came back and head butted the member of staff who was standing in the doorway. The victim sustained bruising to his eye.

Police Community Support Investigator Kate Hann, of Christchurch police, said: “This was a frightening incident for the members of staff who were working on the day.

“I appreciate that this incident took place in September, but we have been following a number of lines of enquiries to try and identify the person responsible.

“My investigation is continuing and I am now in a position to release a CCTV image of the suspect.

“I would ask anyone who recognises him to please get in contact with Dorset Police.”
