Sir Hilary Beckles, chairman of the Caribbean Community Reparations Committee, has called for Conservative MP Richard Drax to “hand over…the Drax plantation” as reparation for the part his ancestors played in the Caribbean slave trade.
Sir Hilary makes a watertight argument that the estate should be part of the National Trust and open to the public to enable funds to go back in to the public purse not in to his own private funds.
He is still benefitting from the killing and mass exploitation of slaves. This is not just about the past but about the present and the future.

Check this vile mans voting history. Completely against human rights and clean energy. He did vote for Brexit, which is only relevant because he then gained an enormous million payment from the EU clean energy fund backed by UK Government to pump into his new solar power plant. He has more shell companies linked to him than shells on a beach. Shell companies are used for tax evasion and fraud. Unfortunately, as are charities of which he’s a prime owner of some very questionable ones.

He was in Northern Ireland with a lot of complaints about warcrimes and murder of civilians floating about. Has been presuring the Government to reduce the amount of time that warcrimes can be investigated for.
He’s a hereditary peer, which was literally paid for from his ancestor as he returned from Barbados after slavery was banned and the UK government gave a payment to make up for the lost slaves. Then paid for Drax hall. Also recieved slave related payments from the Goverment up to 2015.
There’s no “this is all history” – this is a man currently defrauding the hard earned money of tax payers while still making money from slaves.
