When people mock, laugh, ridicule, abuse, attempt to bully, dismiss re my proud, loud, public, consistent support for Jeremy Corbyn, all I feel is more motivation. The reason I still do this now is because nothing has changed-Jeremy Corbyn is the best human being I have ever met. If you hadn’t worked out by now WHY they STILL hate and lie about him, you never will. When you have genuine, fearless, compassionate, inspirational people who do this because someone has to, you support them. You defend them. Because without them, we are nothing. Powerless. People suffer.
Jeremy has always been proud to support what is needed. Regardless of whether that meant personal abuse and physical attacks, or attempts from the media, ‘liberals’ and his own Party to literally destroy him & his family. Even now he leads us. He’s just as busy as he ever was. History has proven Jeremy correct time after time: Iraq X 2, Orgreave, Hillsborough, Kashmir, Northern Ireland peace talks, Israel & Palestine, West Papua, the financial crash down to the specifics of the American sub-prime mortgage issues, Apartheid (arrested for being anti-racist!), women’s rights, disability rights, refugees, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, not arming Saddam Hussein in the 1980s when we did, Windrush (one of only 6 MPs to vote against-Abbott & McDonnell being 2 of the others), NHS privatisation, poll tax, various coups in Latin America, Indian farmers, Birmingham 6, Climate Emergency, Guildford 4, austerity, poverty, homelessness, racism, fascism etc etc etc.
There literally is no one else comparable in UK politics who stood up to be counted, who put their money where there mouth is, who was there all along no matter how unpopular that made him on SO many issues. He is the exception that proves the rule. So, yes, I’m VERY f***ing proud to support Jeremy Corbyn. Because, like him, I believe in justice & Solidarity. In facts and evidence. Most of all, despite what they do to him, he still believes in People. Always People first.
A man who takes out a £30,000 loan in the 1980s to build a community centre desperately needed for so many groups, and it not even being in his constituency!, a man who pays/paid for members if his team out if his own pocket, who consciously, consistently pays too much tax, who publishes his tax accounts, who claimed £8.95 expenses for an ink cartridge when other MPs were literally claiming hundreds of thousands of pounds at the same time, who gives away his pay rise, who gives whatever money he has left to his local credit union to lend to those who cannot get credit anywhere else, who uses public transport with everyone else etc etc. That’s someone I back. I support. Because that is someone who is very much the real deal.
Just because the media and Labour right/Tory/right narrative is the literal opposite of the factual truth, does not mean staying silent for fear of becoming another to face the wrath of the aforementioned, is acceptable. It’s called ‘The Struggle’ for a reason. Do not kid yourselves, we are VERY lucky to have Jeremy, and more like him. Without People like him, and many others in history, where on earth would we be?! So, SUPPORT People like this. No matter how much others try & embarrass or discredit you for doing so. History will prove you correct, as it always does with Jeremy.
We have to get people to realise that IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT WHEN SOMEONE COMES ALONG WHO IS ACTUALLY ON OUR SIDE, THEY ARE DEMONISED AND CALLED ALL SORTS OF COMPLETELY UNTRUE THINGS TO DISCREDIT THEM AS THEY HAVE WON THE POLITICAL ARGUMENT. THINK ABOUT IT. IT’S A HECK OF A COINCIDENCE THAT EVERY TIME THESE PEOPLE ARE TREATED THE SAME WAY, EH?! WAKE UP!!! Stay strong, loud, proud and committed.
You are very much not alone.
Solidarity to all.
