Officers are issuing an image of a man they would like to speak to following a racially aggravated assault in Christchurch.

At around 5pm on Saturday 27 March 2021 the victim – a local man aged in his 50s – entered a private car park on Mudeford and noticed a man with a dog in the corner of the area.

The victim asked the man what he was doing in the car park as it is private property.

It is reported that the man racially abused the victim and approached him aggressively, before punching him twice to his right cheek. He did not sustain any injuries that required hospital treatment.

The man left the area after a member of the public came to the victim’s aid.

Police Constable Gemma Gumbleton, of Christchurch police, said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim and I am carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the man responsible.

“I would ask anyone who recognises the man pictured to please get in touch.”
