Officers investigating an alleged incident of affray in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at around 3.45am on Friday 4 June 2021 that a person was in possession of a knife near to the King’s Statue on The Esplanade.
It is reported that a short time earlier two male teenagers were involved in an altercation outside Actors on Maiden Street and one of them was in possession of a machete. There were no reports of any injuries sustained during the incident.
Officers attended and carried out a search of the area, assisted by the NPAS helicopter.
Following subsequent enquiries, two boys – aged 13 and 14 and from London – were arrested on suspicion of affray. They have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Neil Hooker, of Weymouth CID, said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed what happened to please get in touch.
“I would ask residents, businesses or motorists to check their CCTV systems or dashcams for any relevant footage that will assist my enquiries.”
