Officers investigating a series of commercial burglaries in the Shaftesbury and Gillingham area are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and issuing advice to local businesses.
Officers are currently investigating 15 burglary offences, mainly related to commercial properties, that occurred in the area between Saturday 4 September and Thursday 30 September 2021. Most of the offences have occurred during the night.
Police Constable Geraint Craig, of Gillingham Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “A detailed investigation is ongoing into each of these burglaries.
“Local officers will also be carrying out reassurance visits to those who have been targeted and there will be increased patrols in the areas where the offences have been taking place.
“We would appeal for anyone who has witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who has any further information that might assist our enquiries, to please come forward.
“We recognise the impact offences of this nature have on local businesses and we will do all we can to support them and identify whoever is responsible.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage local businesses to review the security measures they have in place and ensure they do all they can to protect their property. Please do not leave cash on your premises overnight wherever possible.”
