Officers investigating a fail-to-stop serious injury collision in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at around 1.35pm on Saturday 23 October 2021 from the ambulance service of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Suffolk Road.
The pedestrian – a woman aged in her 40s – sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment. Her condition is described as life-threatening and her family has been informed.
The vehicle, which is described as possibly a black Audi saloon, failed to stop at the scene and drove off in the direction of Clarendon Road.
The road is currently closed to allow emergency services to treat the injured person and carry out a thorough examination of the scene.
Police Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said: “An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses to please come forward.
“It is believed the vehicle involved sustained extensive damage to the front windscreen and I would ask anyone who has seen a vehicle matching the description given in the area to urgently contact Dorset Police.
“I am also appealing to any motorists who were travelling in the vicinity around the relevant time and may have captured any dashcam footage to assist our investigation to please get in touch.”
