Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward as they investigate a serious injury road traffic collision in Wimborne.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.35am on Sunday 21 November 2021 of a collision involving a red Peugeot 207 and a pedestrian on Hanham Road.
Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and the female pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment and is believed to be in a serious condition with potentially life-changing injuries. Enquiries are ongoing to identify her next of kin.
Road closures were put in place for the emergency services to respond and to allow for an examination of the scene to be conducted. The road reopened at around 4.30pm.
Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision.
“I would urge any witnesses, or anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage, to please come forward if you have not already spoken to police.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures, which were absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident and for an examination of the scene to be carried out.”
