Officers investigating a report of an alleged fail-to-stop collision in Poole are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward – with two people arrested.

Dorset Police received a report at 6.07pm on Thursday 16 December 2021 of a collision involving a blue Triumph motorcycle and a pedestrian on the A35 Ringwood Road between the Alderney roundabout and Mountbatten roundabout.

It is reported that the rider and pillion passenger of the motorcycle fled the scene.

The pedestrian – a woman aged in her 30s from the Bournemouth area – sustained serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

A 20-year-old man from the Poole area and a 21-year-old man from Oxford have been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to safely respond to the incident and treat the injured person. It reopened at around 1.35am on Friday 17 December 2021.

Police Sergeant Rhys Griffiths, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to any motorists who witnessed the collision, or manner of riding of the motorcycle prior to the incident, to please come forward.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who was driving in the area and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place. These allowed us to carry out a thorough examination of the scene and safely treat the injured person.”
