Officers investigating a vehicle fire in Weymouth which is believed to have been started deliberately are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report from the fire service at 12.42am on Tuesday 28 June 2022 in relation to a fire involving a black Audi in a car park at the former council office site in North Quay.
The fire service extinguished the blaze, which left the car severely damaged. Damage was also caused to the surface of the car park.
Following liaison with the fire service at the scene, it was established that the cause of the fire was believed to have been deliberate.
Police Constable Joseph Garrard, of Weymouth police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and I would appeal to anyone with information that might assist our enquiries to please contact us.
“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of North Quay during the early hours of Tuesday 28 June 2022, or anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage, home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras. In particular, I would urge anyone who has captured any suspicious vehicle movements in the area of the car park to please get in touch .”
