To celebrate Love Parks Week (29th July to 5th August), residents and visitors are being asked to tell us why they love Weymouth’s parks and gardens.

Our favourite comments will feature on signs which will be dotted around our local greenspaces during Love Parks Week!

Weymouth’s beautiful and diverse parks and gardens provide areas for people and visitors to rest, play, learn, socialise, and exercise. They also provide safe spaces for nature to flourish and help to promote biodiversity in the local area. What’s not to love!

But we want to hear why our parks and gardens are important to you, and what you value and love about them. Contact us via social media (FacebookTwitter or Instagram) or email [email protected] before 29th July to let us know. Entries should be no more than a sentence long.

Cllr Ann Weaving, Mayor or Weymouth, said: “Love Parks Week is a chance to celebrate our fantastic local greenspaces and how much they are valued by people. We want to hear from you to find out what Weymouth’s parks and gardens mean to you – please get in touch and tell us why you love your local park or garden!”

As we head into the school summer holidays, it’s a great time to explore Weymouth’s parks and gardens – especially as there’s so much to do for free! There’s plenty going on for the whole family: explore the nature trails and orienteering courses; make use of our basketball and tennis courts; or just bring a picnic and enjoy the natural surroundings. There are also events taking place throughout the summer including regular yoga and aerobics sessions, and a weekly Park Run. Plus in August there will be a special unveiling of a sculpture to commemorate a decade since Weymouth hosted the 2012 Olympic sailing events.
