Officers investigating criminal damage to the window of a charity shop in Gillingham are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Between around 5pm on Saturday 23 July and 9am on Sunday 24 July 2022 a window at the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust shop in the High Street was damaged by a brick. Damage was also caused to items inside the store as a result of the brick being thrown through the window.

Police Constable Geraint Craig, of the Gillingham Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This mindless vandalism has resulted in damage and significant inconvenience being caused to a store that raises funds for a much-loved local charity.

“We are carrying out enquiries to identify who is responsible and I would like to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation.

“Finally, I would urge any local businesses or residents with CCTV, or motorists with dashcam who were in the area on the night in question, to please check their footage for anything of relevance.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk/contact, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55220119559. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
