Due to reportedly obscene texts posted on a WhatsApp group, five police officers have been suspended.
According to the force, the Dorset Police officers were suspended after a report of instances of discriminatory behaviour was filed in July.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) received the file and referred it back to Dorset Police for further investigation.
The texts’ content has not been made public.
According to Dorset Police, the officers, who were a part of a single WhatsApp group, will continue to be suspended during the inquiry.
The force issued a statement that read, in part: “We fully recognise the worry our communities will have regarding claims of discriminatory behaviour within Dorset Police, and we would like to reassure them that we will do everything possible to ensure that these allegations are not true.
The duration of the investigation or the location of the officers’ bases were not specified by Dorset Police.
