Two people have been arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences following a stop of a vehicle in Christchurch and further investigative work by officers.

Shortly after 11pm on Sunday 23 April 2023 officers from the traffic unit stopped a vehicle in Barrack Road and conducted a search of the car and occupants, a man and a woman.

The woman was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected illegal drugs.

Following further enquiries conducted by patrol officers from Bournemouth South’s B squad and the Bournemouth and Christchurch Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (NET), searches were carried out at an address. A quantity of class A drugs with an estimated value of around £12,000 was seized, as well as a large amount of cash.

A 26-year-old woman, from London, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply and possession of a class B drug. A 26-year-old man, also from London, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Both have been released on police bail as officers carry out further enquiries.

Sergeant Cameron Thompson, of the BCP NET, said: “Through Operation Viper we have been relentlessly pursuing those suspected of being involved in the supply of illegal drugs in our communities.

“This incident involved collaboration between traffic officers, patrol units and the Neighbourhood Enforcement Team to uncover a significant quantity of suspected illegal drugs and disrupt the activities of individuals believed to be involved in the supply chain.

“We will continue our efforts to make Dorset a hostile place for those reported to be involved in drug related activity and we would urge members of the public to report any information to us, either online at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101. If a crime is in progress, always dial 999.”
