Following a public request to help find Bob sadly the worst news has been received.

From Bob’s family

Unfortunately Bob has deliberately taken his life. He went missing Saturday evening and on Sunday morning his clothes were found on Chesil beach. We’ve since discovered overwhelming evidence of intent. The police have not found him, but have warned this may never happen.

Bob was suffering from severe mental health issues for a long time. As a family, we tried to guide Bob to seek professional help but he felt unable to do this and wanted to handle it himself.

We are shocked and saddened by what has happened and can only imagine the battle he was going through inside.

Please please speak to someone if you are feeling down or reach out to the many organisations that are there to help. There are more people than you realise who care about you as we are finding out with all the support we’ve had through this.

Tribute from a friend

Thank you to all out there who kept a look out for Bob when he was reported missing. Simply put, Bob was my friend, somebody with a gentler soul I have yet to meet. Proud of his roots despite only spending a few of his formative years in Knotty Ash, Liverpool. We shared a passion for football- him Liverpool, me Everton- but he was unique, even in his support, with his much repeated earnestly meant phrase, “I hope Everton do it for you and the city”. In fact, the last message I had from him was when I was in Liverpool watching Everton very narrowly escape relegation when he was the first to get in contact saying, “Safe journey and well done”.

Yet his love of humanity was always to the fore, always concerned about those who were oppressed or poor.

I wish I had known, but I didn’t. Seek support when you need it, offer support when you think a friend is in need.

I will miss our discussions about Liverpool, politics, football, and his eclectic music tastes. I will miss him tomorrow when I expected to be watching the Champions League Final with him. I will just miss my mate.
