Dear Mr Loder

Seeing as I never wrote to you before but this is now my 4th letter in a week I hope you will realise the extent of my anxiety and my plea that you will act.

Today we learn that the South West is now the worst area in the country for ‘R’ , and of course, we know it has partly been exacerbated by the predictable backlash of folk who saw no reason why they shouldn’t be ‘exceptional’ following on from the whole Barnard castle etc; a rush to the beaches and second homes and camping .

It is beyond question that the streets of Bridport are full of cars and people , many of whom are not usually residents.

This is now a life threatening situation and I don’t need to tell you that demographically we have a high risk/older population.

Apparently it was mooted that ‘hot spots’ would have local lockdowns and I would urge you to put your efforts into that for the sake of your constituents, who have no other hope.

Many of us have been shielding and having our shopping bought for us by kind youngsters since March 10th ( in my case).

I have not seen my sons for months.

Today we learn that at least 5 of the SAGE committee have argued strongly against easing lockdown.

Please do what you can, which will undoubtedly save lives.

Valerie Goodwin
